Rincon Mountain Winery (RMW) is a small boutique winery located on top of Rincon Mountain on the border of Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. After acquiring a BS in Enology From Cal Poly, our Winemaker, Edward Darren, built the winery on his family’s avocado ranch where he was born and raised. With stunning views of the Santa Barbara Coast and valley leading to Ojai, we grow grapes and make wine that represent our unique and local terroir. In addition to our vineyard on the Mountain, we have a six-acre vineyard in the Paso Robles AVA.

At RMW, we value hard work. With a small family team, we devote ourselves completely to the entire life cycle of our wines. They are spoiled with attention from the time the vines are planted to their maturation, preservation and bottling. We believe this hard work and attention to detail are the heart and soul of our wine.


Our Beginnings  

Edward Darren grew up making wine for family and friends with his father, Randolph. Randolph encouraged Edward Darren to attend Cal Poly to obtain a degree in Wine and Viticulture with the promise that they would create a “real” winery once he had a degree in hand. Edward Darren graduated from Cal Poly in 2010, planted the Paso Robles vineyard in 2013, finished building the winery in 2014, and harvested his first vintage in 2015.

Sadly, Randolph passed in September of 2016 in the middle of Edward’s second harvest.  Randolph will always be missed, and we are forever thankful to him for giving us the tools, resources, and inspiration to carry on the dream.
